The Week That Decides Retention

Churn does not happen in month nine. It happens in the first seven days, and by the time the cancellation email arrives the decision is months old. Here is the day-by-day map, the three signals that predict it, and what to do on day four.

How it opens

A client of mine ran a $40 a month tool with 6% monthly churn. They spent a quarter building a win-back email sequence for people who cancelled. It recovered 2%. Then we pulled the cohort data and looked at what the churned accounts did in their first week, and the pattern was almost embarrassing. 84% of the accounts that cancelled inside six months had never completed the one action the product was built around. Not once. Not on day one, not on day forty.

That is page one, unedited. The remaining 6 sections carry the thresholds, the tables and the fixes.

Where this came from

Not theory and not a summary of someone else's blog post. Every checklist here came out of an account I actually run, and the thresholds are the ones I use on a Monday morning.

Questions

What does it cost?

Nothing. There is no paid tier behind it and no call to book at the end.

What format is it?

A checklist pdf you can download and keep. It opens on a phone.

What happens to my email address?

It goes on my list so I can send you the writing. I do not sell it or share it, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Do I need to be running Google Ads already?

No. Plenty of this applies before you spend a dollar, and knowing the thresholds up front is cheaper than learning them live.
